Confidentiality agreement

This agreement applies to you who are an employee, trainee, student in workplace placement education, elected representative, or otherwise active in the municipality of Piteå. 

What am I signing?

With the confidentiality agreement, you ensure that you do not pass on any information that you get to know about people's personal circumstances. Everyone who comes into contact with the municipality of Piteå should feel secure that the information they provide is handled with great respect for their personal integrity. The insurance applies as long as you are active in Piteå municipality and after completing assignments in the municipality's operations. 

Can I ever go against the confidentiality agreement?

You may break the confidentiality if you work in, for example, the social services or preschool / school and you are bound by the notification requirement. This means that you are obliged to report if you suspect any misconduct at home, in the care of children / young people, the elderly or disabled. Notification of misconduct is made to the Social Committee. Talk to your manager if you are unsure if you are bound by the notification requirement.

In addition, you, as an employee in a public sector, are bound by freedom of message. It gives you the right to submit classified information for example to the media, but not if it risks harming individuals.

Talk to your manager for advice and support if you are faced with questions regarding confidentiality or acts of confidentiality in your work. This also applies if you have concerns about the confidential rules.

What happens if I break the privacy agreement?

If you go against the confidentiality obligation, it may lead to prosecution. If you are an employee, the employer can also take disciplinary action because you have also gone against your employment contract
